On July 12, 2010 several Northwestern Mutual Financial Representatives and College Financial Representatives stepped away from their offices and onto the tee box. It was a day for celebration. Northwestern Mutual was a proud sponsor of the 100th Anniversary Cabbage Patch Golf Outing. Cabbage Patch Settlement House is a nonprofit, Christian organization that seeks to change the lives of at-risk children. Approximately 112 golfers arrived at Valhalla Golf Club in their Edwardian Best, which represented the golfing attire in 1910, Cabbage Patch’s founding year. When golfers approached the 11th hole, Northwestern Mutual eagerly greeted them with refreshments, divot tools, and a challenge: Each golfer participated in Northwestern Mutual’s closest to the pin competition. The winner of each foursome took home a sleeve of Pro-V 1 golf balls, while the overall winner for the day was given a box of golf balls. To view photos from the golf outing, click here. Northwestern Mutual to hold Bowling Bash for Junior AchievementNorthwestern Mutual’s Kentucky/Southern Indiana Group is putting its own spin on the traditional Junior Achievement (JA) bowl-a-thon. Our Financial Representatives, backed by their leadership, and with support from the Sports and Social Club on 4th Street Live!, are hosting a party for their friends at 5:30 on September 23, 2009. The hosts are asking those who attend to join them in making a donation to JA. The event will be less about knocking down pins and more about having fun and helping JA raise financial literacy in our community. Strength and consistency will be the key to the light-hearted bowling competition. Kentucky/Southern Indiana Group's Managing Partner and JA Trustee, Dan Rivers, has made JA a philanthropic priority for his organization. The financial representatives have embraced the opportunity. Sarah Settle, the group’s designated JA Corporate Champion said, “Our representatives throughout our territory have enjoyed volunteering as instructors for JA. The Bowling Bash is just another way for us to express our enthusiastic support.”
